TANGO DJs
Bilbao Tango Festival & Cup 2027 DJ team is still to be confirmed but we can assure that we will feature a selection of national and international Tango DJs who will bring their experience and expertise to accompany the festival’s milongas. Over seven days, their musical selections will cover a wide range of styles and periods, focusing mostly on traditional tandas, ensuring a coherent and high-quality experience for all dancers.
The milongas will take place at the Hotel Palacio de Oriol in Santurtzi, equipped with a professional sound system and a wooden dance floor specially installed for the event. Each DJ will contribute their personal touch to the musical atmosphere, shaping the diverse and cosmopolitan character that defines the festival.

Pablo Rodriguez
(Argentina/London)
Pablo Rodriguez will be our official DJ for the championship, choosing and presenting the tangos, valses, and milongas to be danced by the competitors.
He is a dancer, teacher, Tango DJ, organizer and founder of Tango Space London, with more than 25 years of experience in Argentine Tango.
Born in Buenos Aires and based in London, he has provided music for milongas, festivals, and marathons in Argentina, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He has participated as a DJ and sound designer at London Tango Week and numerous other international events.
His DJ style combines his knowledge of the great orchestras and the Tango tradition with a constant reading of the dance floor, creating sets designed for dancing and feeling.
With over 60,000 followers on YouTube, Pablo also teaches and promotes Tango internationally, and has participated as a judge in official competitions and preliminaries linked to the Tango BA Festival and World Championship.
Carmen Villafuerte

When I provide music at a milonga, my main goal is to connect with the dancers, creating an atmosphere that inspires the desire to dance and enjoyment. For me, the best tangos I can offer in a milonga are those that combine a solid rhythmic base with a deep emotional charge. It is crucial to select the best quality music possible to guide and inspire the dancers. At the end of each milonga, my goal is for the dancers to take away a memorable evening, with tangos echoing in their minds and the fond memories of the experiences they have had. Carmen is already a standard at all the major festivals in Spain and with her we have a guaranteed night of great dancing!
Pablo Nievas

Since I was 5 years old I have been linked to tango, first at family parties, surrounded by musicians, dancers and that milonga atmosphere that naturally shaped my way of feeling and understanding our music.
Throughout my career as a dancer and teacher, I've had the opportunity to share stages and milongas with great tango orchestras and singers, many of whom are featured on the very recordings that make up the mixes we listen to today. Having toured and performed with them and experienced the music from within has also shaped my approach as a music programmer.
I have my own Tango school and accommodation in Buenos Aires where I provide the music for my milongas. I have also been honored by the National Tango Academy with an award recognizing my contribution to tango music. I have provided music for milongas, festivals, and marathons in the most prestigious milongas in Argentina, Europe, Oceania, Asia, the USA, and Canada.
But above all, I am a dancer and teacher who knows the dance floor intimately. And it is precisely from that experience that I build my sets, making each one a unique experience.
Barbara Palmer

She currently organizes and DJs for Milonga del Puerto and DolceVita milonga and Dolce Tango Marathon in Valencia.
She imbues each session with its unique tango identity. Traditional orchestras take center stage, delivering as much emotion and intensity as possible. Great care and attention are given to the cortinas, which are coherent, fun, and even danceable.
Extensive experience since 2005 at La Milonga Madrid, El Apronte and Re Menor in Madrid, and Pensalo Bien in Valencia. She has also been invited as a Tango DJ to various tango events such as festivals, marathons, and gatherings throughout Europe.
She has dedicated time to listening to and studying tango music, participated in seminars and meetings for this purpose, and painstakingly crafted her training (which also includes research) that, in this case, as in many others, never ends!
Manuel Rosales

With over two decades of experience, I am passionate about selecting music and orchestras from all eras, seeking a balance between rhythmic and melodic sets, as well as between vocal and instrumental pieces. My goal is to satisfy diverse musical tastes, to delight the senses of the dancers with the musical selection, and to move them with every set.
Passion, energy, and sensitivity in every set. With the musical selection, I aim to bring the dance floor to life and make every embrace a celebration.
I have DJ'd milongas in Granada and Malaga, as well as at national and international festivals, such as the International Tango Festival in Granada, Workshop Milonga Sevilla, Milongas on the Costa del Sol, Raduno Milonguero in Italy, Valencia, Tango Marathon in Pamplona, Baztango, Benidorm, Oviedo, among others.
Hugo Ferrari

Hugo Ferrari is a dancer, teacher, and passionate tango enthusiast. His journey began with Latin rhythms and continued with folklore and tango, leading him to perform on stages and dance floors in Argentina, Europe, and Asia. For years, he has experienced tango from both sides: as a dancer and as a passionate lover of milonga music, exploring different dance floors, styles, and ways of feeling tango around the world.
As a DJ, Hugo brings all that experience to the dance floor. His dancer's eye allows him to understand the energy of the circle, the connection between couples, and the perfect moment for each tango, creating sets designed to thrill and keep the dance floor alive. His goal: for each set to have meaning, for each embrace to find its rhythm, and for everyone to enjoy themselves until the very last beat.
Christina Gomez

I entered the world of tango through dancing but in the end so many years of listening to tangos led me to investigate orchestras, their histories, their energies and the effect this has on the energy of a milonga. I love to sit and watch the dance floor and choose what is best for the dancers in the moment. The milonga is a bit like a blank piece of paper and the dancers and I work together to draw something full of feeling. My aim is to fill the dance floor and to make each tanda make you want to dance. I always focus on the major tango orchestras and their most popular and danceable songs, especially from the golden era, with a view to taking the milonga and the people on a journey of different energies. And I never forget the fun cortinas to keep the party going!
